After saving up I finally contacted Gutter Girl and set up an appointment to get gutters installed on the front and back of my house. They were so KIND and SWEET super easy to work with and QUICK. I had a consultation and installation in the same week. Today I went to thank them and ask for my invoice. I was not only thanked for working with the kids in our community, but I was GIFTED my full gutter installation… If you know anyone who needs gutters I can’t recommend this company enough. One of the amazing small businesses we have in our community.

We moved to Kennewick a year ago. Our house is new, and did not have gutters. We kept hearing “it never rains here…so no need for gutters.” After the first rain storm, I went to my neighbors and asked who installed their gutters. They told me: Gutter Girl , very well recommended. So I called. Marcie came, gave a very reasonable quote, and sent two of her employees to install the gutters. They did a wonderful job, quickly and efficiently, were very polite and personable, and left the place very clean. Recently, I called to have a drain relocated from a downspout. Marcie sent a young man to do it right away. Again, the job was well done. Thank you Marcie for providing an excellent service, and for having great people working in your company. I highly recommend your business!!

Having been in business for most of my career, most recently as a general contractor but also as a business coach and consultant, I’ve seen a lot of businesses with different levels of business practice. While I am very impressed with their workmanship, I am most pleased with the high regard for compassion and integrity exhibited by the owner. in fact, recently I was diagnosed with cancer and she went out of her way to ask how she could be a service. We let her know of a gutter install we needed. To my surprise, she brought a crew of three hard working men the following day, installing gutters in the front of our home at NO CHARGE! This is a company we very much recommend.

Your questions answered

Common questions

In summary, gutters are essential for protecting your home’s foundation, landscaping, exterior surfaces, and overall structural integrity from the damaging effects of water. Investing in a well-designed and properly maintained gutter system is a proactive measure to safeguard your home and its value.

Downspouts are essential for the efficient and controlled disposal of rainwater collected by gutters. They play a vital role in safeguarding the foundation, walls, basement, and overall structural integrity of a building, while also contributing to the preservation of the surrounding landscape.

Gutters act as a first line of defense against water-related damage by channeling rainwater away from the foundation and walls. Their effective management of water runoff helps maintain a dry and stable environment, ultimately protecting the structural integrity of the home.

Typically 10- 12 Years.

To maximize the lifespan of your gutter system, it’s recommended to invest in high-quality materials, professional installation, and regular maintenance. Periodic inspections and prompt repairs can help identify and address issues before they compromise the effectiveness of the gutters.

For residential we always recommend using a residential seamless gutter system for functionality purposes.

Factors that affect cost of a seamless gutter system would be rain chains and any decorative options offered.

While gutters provide essential protection during winter weather, it’s crucial to note that they need proper maintenance to ensure their effectiveness. Regular cleaning, especially in the fall, can prevent clogs and ensure that gutters function optimally during snow and ice events. Additionally, installing gutter guards can help reduce the likelihood of debris accumulation, further enhancing the gutter system’s winter performance.

The time it takes to install a new gutter system can vary based on several factors, including the size and complexity of your home, the type of gutter system being installed, the number of stories, and the experience of the installation crew.

Seamless gutters are typically more expensive than sectional gutters. The cost difference arises from the manufacturing process, materials, and installation method. Here are the factors that contribute to the price distinction between seamless and sectional gutters:

Customization and Manufacturing:

    • Seamless gutters are custom-made on-site to fit the specific dimensions of your home. This requires specialized equipment and skills, contributing to a higher manufacturing cost. In contrast, sectional gutters come in pre-cut sections, making them more cost-effective to produce.

Material Costs:

    • The material used for the gutters affects the overall cost. While both seamless and sectional gutters are available in various materials such as aluminum, steel, vinyl, or copper, seamless gutters may have a higher material cost due to their custom fabrication.

Installation Process:

    • The installation process for seamless gutters is generally more labor-intensive and requires specialized machinery. The seamless gutters are formed on-site, ensuring a precise fit for the specific dimensions of your home. Sectional gutters, on the other hand, involve connecting pre-cut sections, which is a simpler and faster process.

Aesthetics and Longevity:

    • Seamless gutters are often considered more aesthetically pleasing because they have fewer joints and seams. Additionally, the reduced number of seams means there are fewer areas where leaks could potentially occur. While sectional gutters are functional, the seams may be more prone to leaks over time.

Maintenance and Repairs:

    • Seamless gutters generally require less maintenance and are less prone to clogs because of the absence of seams that can trap debris. This can contribute to long-term cost savings by reducing the need for frequent cleaning and repairs.

While seamless gutters come with a higher upfront cost, many homeowners find them to be a worthwhile investment due to their aesthetic appeal, reduced maintenance requirements, and the potential for longer-lasting performance. When comparing costs, it’s essential to consider your specific needs, budget, and preferences to determine the most suitable type of gutter for your home. If unsure, consulting with a professional gutter installer can provide valuable insights and help you make an informed decision.

If you’re uncertain about whether your gutters need repairs or replacement, it’s advisable to consult with a professional gutter contractor. They can assess the condition of your current system and provide recommendations based on your specific situation. Regular maintenance and prompt repairs can help extend the lifespan of your gutters and prevent more significant issues in the long run.

When choosing the right gutter for your house, consider factors such as the climate in your area, the architectural style of your home, your budget, and maintenance preferences. Consulting with a professional gutter installer can also provide valuable insights based on your specific needs and requirements.

Regular gutter system maintenance is essential to ensure the longevity and efficiency of the system. Neglecting maintenance can lead to water damage, foundation issues, and other costly repairs. If you’re unsure about performing maintenance tasks yourself, consider hiring a professional gutter cleaning and maintenance service for thorough and safe upkeep.

Ultimately, the decision between DIY and professional installation depends on your individual circumstances, skills, and preferences. If in doubt, consulting with a professional for advice or an estimate can help you make an informed decision based on your specific needs.

While gutter extensions offer valuable protection, it’s essential to ensure they are positioned correctly and extend far enough to effectively direct water away from the foundation. Regular inspection and maintenance of gutter systems, including extensions, can help prevent potential issues and protect your home’s structural integrity.

Yes, gutter systems play a crucial role in preventing basement flooding by effectively managing rainwater runoff and directing it away from the foundation of your home. Properly functioning gutters contribute to maintaining a dry and stable environment around the foundation, minimizing the risk of water infiltration into the basement.

Yes, there are several signs that indicate your gutters may not be functioning properly. Regularly monitoring the condition of your gutters and recognizing these signs can help you address issues promptly and prevent potential damage to your home. Here are common signs that your gutters may not be working as they should:

  • Overflowing Gutters

  • Sagging or Pulling Away

  • Leaking Gutters

  • Staining on Siding or Exterior Walls

  • Pooling Water Around the Foundation

  • Gutters Pulling Away from the Roofline

  • Excessive Plant Growth or Debris in Gutters

  • Visible Rust or Corrosion

  • Peeling Paint on Exterior Surfaces

  • Cracks or Holes in Gutters

  • Presence of Mold or Mildew

  • Ineffective Downspouts

Gutter guards, also known as gutter covers or leaf guards, are designed to prevent debris from entering your gutters while allowing water to flow through. While they can be beneficial in certain situations, whether you need gutter guards depends on various factors, including the local environment, types of trees around your home, and your maintenance preferences. Here’s how gutter guards work and factors to consider:

How Gutter Guards Work:

  • Preventing Debris Entry

  • Promoting Water Flow

  • Reducing Clogs

  • Minimizing Gutter Cleaning

Factors to Consider:

  • Tree Coverage

  • Climate

  • Roof Design

  • Type of Gutter Guard

  • Installation Quality

  • Maintenance Preferences

  • Cost Considerations

While gutter guards can be advantageous, they are not a one-size-fits-all solution, and their effectiveness can vary based on the factors mentioned above.

Yes, it is typically possible to add gutters to a home that didn’t originally have them. The process involves careful planning, proper installation, and consideration of the home’s architecture. Here are the general steps involved in adding gutters to a home:

Assessment:

    • Evaluate the layout of your home and identify areas where gutters are needed. Consider factors such as rooflines, water runoff patterns, and potential areas of water accumulation.

Determine Gutter Type:

      • Choose the type of gutter system that best suits your home’s needs. Common types include sectional gutters, seamless gutters, and various materials such as aluminum, steel, vinyl, or copper.

Plan Downspout Placement:

    • Determine the placement of downspouts based on the layout of your home and the optimal locations for directing water away from the foundation.

Calculate Gutter Size:

    • Calculate the appropriate size of the gutters based on the roof area and the expected volume of water runoff. Larger roofs may require wider gutters to handle increased water flow.

Gutter Hangers and Fasteners:

    • Choose and install gutter hangers or brackets that will secure the gutters to the fascia board. The spacing of hangers is crucial for the stability and effectiveness of the gutter system.

Downspout Installation:

    • Install downspouts at strategic locations to ensure proper water drainage away from the foundation. Downspouts should be securely attached to the exterior walls.

Grade and Slope:

    • Ensure that the gutters are installed with the correct slope to allow water to flow toward the downspouts. Proper grading is essential for efficient water drainage.

Seamless Gutter Installation (Optional):

    • If you opt for seamless gutters, the installation process involves customizing the gutters on-site to fit the exact dimensions of your home. Seamless gutters are often preferred for their durability and reduced risk of leaks.

Gutter Guards (Optional):

    • Consider adding gutter guards to prevent debris from entering the gutters and reduce the need for frequent cleaning. Gutter guards can be installed during the initial installation or added later.

Professional Installation or DIY:

    • While adding gutters can be a DIY project for those with the necessary skills, many homeowners choose to hire professionals to ensure proper installation and optimal performance.

Local Building Codes:

    • Check local building codes and regulations to ensure compliance with any requirements related to gutter installations.

Regular maintenance and timely repairs are essential to ensure the proper functioning of your gutter system and prevent water damage to your home. Addressing issues promptly can save you from more extensive repairs and potential structural damage in the long run.
